Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
I've been buying this item for three years and have found it to be of consistant great quality. It's wonderful to keep on hand in the freezer for those nights when you need a quick dinner. I thaw in the microwave, then brown it in a pan, add sauce for an instant dinner. It also makes great SOS (browned and mixed with country gravy) over bisquits for a super Southern-style breakfast.
I suspect those who have had problems with off smells did not handle the product properly -- too long in the freezer, thawed and refrozen, thawed and then not promptly prepared, or thawed improperly. Remember always thaw in the refrigerator overnight or thaw in the microwave and cook immediately.

ground beef
Date:April 6, 2012
I used to buy this ground beef every month, it was a good price and the quality was good, now it is so bad the last 3 months that i will never buy it again, it is like biting into a bunch of little rubber balls with a few hard things thrown in. terribl.
We always liked this product, never had much trouble with it at all. But at over 4.00 a pound, wonder if its value is really worth the price. I will be retrying the leaner stuff first that is priced less before buying this product again unless its on special
Pros: Easy Prep, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture
I like that this product comes in 1 lb. pkgs. I use it in spaghetti sauce, for meatloaf, tacos, etc. I usually make little meatballs for the spaghetti sauce but do leave smaller crumbles. If some of you feel it's too greasy (I've never had that problem) try boiling the meat in water. I know it sounds weird, but it works (I've used this process with store-bought meat). It boils all the grease out of the meat. After you drain the meat break it up more then add to whatever sauce you're making.
Everyone in our family thought it had an off flavor of some kind. Also, it may just be that I am too used to leaner ground beef, but this seemed awfully greasy too me even after draining the fat off.
This meat is very good. Has great flavor and I believe it to be leaner than 85% There was very little grease that cooked out of this. I was amazed.
The only downside is that it is finely ground. Almost tooooo ground up. I prefer to know that there is meat in my food it was so ground. But I will be ordering again. Between the %, the flavor and the $, this can't be beat!
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
I love this ground beef! I priced it out and it's actually not that expensive. I always thought it was way overpriced and it's not. 3.70 per pound or something like that, not bad. I love that it's in one pound packages because unless you are at a meat market and ask for it at a case they seem to always be packaged at a pound and a third or more. I think the quality is good and again, defrosting it correctly makes a difference. I have been buying the ground beef over 16 years and have never been let down.
I've been buying the Market Day ground beef for over 10 years. I never minded if the price was more than what I could get in the grocery store, because the quality of the meat was well worth it! I have noticed the quality of the ground beef changing over the past couple of years, but I still said it was worth it. However, this last box of ground beef packages I bought has just been awful! There are a lot of "bone" pieces and "tendon" or rubber, chewy bits mixed in it and the taste is so bland! I wasn't the only one who thought so! Of the last 2 meals I've made with the ground beef (spaghetti & beefy-mac), EVERYONE in my family has only eaten the pasta and picked out the ground beef & left it on their plate, saying "Sorry mom... but the pasta was good!"
I'm not going to buy my ground beef through Market Day until I hear things have changed. At this point, it is a waste of my money since it is just getting thrown away!

Great to have on hand
Date:June 15, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
I was hesitant to buy frozen ground beef for some time...I decided to take a chance with Market Day and LOVE IT!! It is super easy to thaw and prepare. The taste is great and the whole family enjoyed it. Perfect to have on hand for a quick meal or to add to a late night snack of nachos!! Will definitely buy again.
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
Cons: Excess Fat
I've been buying this over 10 years, I love the packing and easy to defrost. Sure it has some fat but I just take a paper towel and soak it up before adding ingredients.

Great Convenience Product
Date:May 5, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
I have been buying the ground beef for years and have stopped buying from the grocery store for many years now. Grocery store quality doesn't stand up to this product in my opinion. Its frozen so you defrost exactly what you need and it always tastes like ground steak with very little fat left after frying. I use it for everything you use ground beef for. I have never been disappointed. I make sure to stock up to have during the summer too! Highly recommend!

funny taste
Date:January 27, 2011
Cons: bad taste
this hamburger had a funny taste to it. It did not taste like regular beef. We thought it was a fluke but tried it another pkg a few weeks later and it had the same taste. Even the kids noticed, so in the trash it went. Never to buy again!
Great to have handy 1 pound burger around. Flavor is very good. Texture can be too mushy if it's frozen too long.

Pretty Good!
Date:November 30, 2010
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Good Texture, Versatile, great smell
Cons: Excess Fat
I was skeptical about buying pre-packaged ground meat (after all the recent recalls!) but received an order free a month ago. I was very happy with the taste and smell, a great steak smell and will order it again. I only wish it came in 90 or even 95% fat free content. While it wasn't overly fatty as some others complained, it's just easier to not have to drain it.
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Healthy, Good Texture, Versatile
This comes frozen in handy one pound packages so you only need to thaw what you need. Meat quality is fantastic. Easy to store -- they seal the one pound packages into rectangular blocks. Simply take one out in the morning and you're set for dinner.
I purchased this and it was fatty, tasted bad too. I was surprised since I love Market Day. I thought maybe I just received a bad package and I should give it another try. When I received it free one month, I gave it a try again. Same results! Poor taste, fatty, very poor quality of meat.
The ground beef packages are perfect. I used to hate going to the grocery, buying the two pound package of meat and then having to separate it and freeze it. Now, all I have to do is throw them in the freezer and use them as needed.
This is pretty good ground beef. The one pound packages are great for just about any thing you are making. We love this for mostacholi, speg, hamburgers, anything that you would use hamburger for.
