Battered Alaska Cod

A mild white flaky fish that's golden battered for that pub-style taste.

Delicious!

Date:January 14, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, High Quality
I enjoy the battered Alaska cod. They do come in smaller pieces than I thought but that just makes for easier portion control. Make sure you cook them until the outside is a bit crispy. I found that when I didn't cook it until the outside was crispy then the inside wasn't the best consistency. However, they are delicious when cooked til crispy! I have bought these several times. Kids love them too!

Pros: Flavorful, Indulgent, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
This is delicious, flaky fish that everyone in the family loves! I have to make the whole box or the kids are complaining they didn't have enough! Excellent taste and easy to make.

Really good, but not enough!

Date:April 30, 2012
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly
Cons: tiny pieces
These actually were very good. I just baked them in the oven and served with homemade tarter sauce (I forgot we didn't have any). My daughter like these, my son doesn't eat anything anyway, & my husband and I really liked these. However, the pieces of fish are SO small that it makes 2 pieces as a portion not realistic, even for people who watch their portions like I do! The entire box ended up being one meal for my family & a few pieces left over for my husband's lunch. So, for the amount you get for the price is not worth it for us, which is too bad sicne it is very good.

Won't Order Again

Date:April 12, 2012
Pros: Easy Prep
Cons: Bland
These were very quick and easy and the taste was ok, but I don't think that we will order again. Each piece was very small- too small to make a fish sandwich, and some of the pieces were of a strange size/shape so that the fish was very thick. All in all, not better than what I can find in a grocery store aisle, so not worth the cost.

Yum!

Date:February 27, 2012
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Good Texture
This fish surprisingly baked very well. It was nice and krispy, moist, and full of flavor. The portion sized are perfect for my health conscience adult family. Add a little tartar sauce for dipping and some crunchy fries, you have a great meal for any night of the week!

Very tasty fish for an easy dinner

Date:February 20, 2012
Pros: Flavorful, Versatile, Easy Prep, Good Texture
I tried these fish for the first time last month and we were pleasantly surprised. Like all the other reviews said, the pieces were pretty small but their great taste made up for it. We like them with cheese melted on top and tartar sauce.

Yummy fish

Date:January 6, 2012
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Good Texture
I thought this fish was really yummy. The batter was buttery and crunchy and the fish had a nice texture. The pieces are small though so probably not the best size for sandwiches.

Small pieces but very tasty

Date:January 2, 2012
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Good Texture, Versatile
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box is that the pieces are small. But once we baked it I understood why. If you don't bake it enough the texture is mushy. I think that if the pieces were any bigger they wouldn't heat properly. This is really tasty cod. My husband and I love this. We make sure to bake it up crispy and serve with his homemade tartar sauce. The last time we made this we used sweet pepper relish and mayo for a sauce. That was excellent. I also like it with just a squeeze of lemon or lime juice over top.

Even Tastier than Krispy Krunchy Cod!

Date:December 9, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture
I gave Krispy Krunchy Cod my top rating; can I give Battered Alaskan Cod SIX stars? It's quick to cook from the freezer and the batter has a great texture. The trade-off is that microwave-reheated Krispy Krunchy Cod makes better sandwiches. So pick your cod based on whether or not you'll have leftovers. Either way, your family will be happy.

delicious and easy, coming from a non fish lover

Date:November 1, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Indulgent, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
I usually cannot stand any form of seafood, but I probably ate more of these than my husband and son did (they loved them as well).
I served these with the MarketDay sweet potato french fries, which were also delicious. Bake both items for a healthier version of fish and chips that tastes just as good :-)

Whole family liked it

Date:October 22, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly
My 8 year old daughter, 3 year old son, husband and I all liked this fish. It didn't fall apart when I cut it up for my son, so he could pick it up with his fingers and eat it. He also has egg and peanut allergies and had no problem eating this, unlike other batter covered items.

Great Tasting Cod; Bring Back the Potato Wedges!!!

Date:October 21, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Good Texture
Cons: small pieces/portions
Just as everyone has said....great tasting fish but too small of pieces. I actually bought this cod when it was offered in the past as "Fish n Chips". We LOVED getting the potato wedges included with this fish but for some reason they stopped selling them together.....BIG disappointment. Nonetheless we still buy just the cod pieces and they still taste the same. I do agree with everyone else....you do need to bake them until they have a crispy texture. Our family enjoys this fish but I do think it is even a smaller portion then what it used to be. Seems there were more pieces about a year or so ago.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE FISH N CHIPS with the potato wedges.

Not that great...

Date:October 6, 2011
Pros: Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Versatile
Cons: Poor Texture, Poor Flavor
This was OK, it was nothing special. 2 out of 3 kids ate it with no problem. We only cooked 1 out of the 2 bags so hopefully the second bag is better

Used to love these

Date:June 20, 2011
Pros: Easy Prep
Cons: Poor Texture
We used to eat this fish once every week or two, but it seems like they've changed it. Many of the pieces of fish seem drier and "fishier" than it used to. The kids previously gobbled it up, now we end up with half the bag left over.
I don't know if we just got a couple of bad batches in a row, but we've all lost our taste for this fish. May try it again in a few months.

Small Pieces, But Good Taste

Date:May 24, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Kid-Friendly, Good Texture
Cons: small pieces
The fish came in much smaller pieces than I anticipated. My kids loved it though. We just had to use two pieces per bun for sandwiches. It had good taste & texture. It also wasn't greasy at all, like some frozen fish is.
