Tasty, Tender, and Terrific!!!

Date:October 11, 2010
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture
I love love love, these asparagus!! Very easy to cook. Tender, Delicious. Kids love them too. I read the reviews here and they are pretty much on point. This will be a regualr order for me.
The Can Asparagus is disgustingly smushing and the Fresh ones in the grocery store is too tough. These are perfect!!

Always delicious!

Date:June 21, 2010
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
This asparagus is consistently high quality and delicious. We like to empty a package onto a baking pan (put aluminum foil down and spray with Pam first). Then drizzle a small amount of olive oil on it, roll the spears around so they're all coated, and sprinkle some garlic, salt and pepper (or try McCormick's Grinders Sea Salt & Garlic). Then roast in the oven. Even people who claimed they never eat asparagus love it this way! Thanks, Market Day!

Asparagus was not what I expected

Date:February 29, 2012
Cons: Poor Texture, tiny, overcooked/limp
First off, these asparagus spears are tiny---only about 3-4 inches long and the width of a pencil. The instructions say to run them under tap water to thaw in a colander. I did that and wound up with a very limp pile of tiny asparagus. I didn't realize they would be cooked already---and I would say they were way over-cooked based on how limp they turned out (just by thawing--I never even heated them since they went straight to the trash can.)

Better than fresh!

Date:February 8, 2012
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
These asparagus spears are great! I like that they are slim and small which makes them tender and not tough like asparagus can be. Very easy to cook, and they taste better than fresh! Great price, too!

Not the best...

Date:February 6, 2012
Pros: Easy Prep, Healthy
Cons: Poor Flavor, bitter
My family loves asparagus, but found this to be bitter and mushy. My husband would not eat it and my four kids passed as well.

Disappointed

Date:February 2, 2012
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Healthy, High Quality
Cons: imported from china
While the product itself is good and of the quality you come to expect from Market Day products, I was disappointed when I picked up my order and discovered the asparagus is imported from China. I go out of my way not to buy any food products that are imported from China. It would have been nice if this would have been noted on the product description. I wouldn't have ordered it I had known this.

Mushy

Date:January 31, 2012
Cons: Poor Texture, Poor Flavor
I wish I would have read more reviews than the first page worth. I followed directions and thawed gently first, then I tried to roast it. It was mushy and had no flavor. I will not be buying this again!

Beware: Chinese Produce

Date:January 7, 2012
Cons: grown and processed in china
I purchased asparagus from Market Day in November and was shocked to see that this product was grown and processed in China. I contacted the company to explain my concern over chinese produce and they responded that they get asparagus from Peru and China only and that they are careful however the FDA inspects less than 2 percent of all imports and rarely inspects food production facilities in China. After several email exchanges they agreed to "look into" putting country of origin on the website (I felt that was the least they could do for their customers). I didn't want to send a bad review, but obviously there is no country of origin listed for this product and customers have the right to make educated purchases. Very disappointing.

Yuck, Yuck, and more Yuck

Date:January 5, 2012
Cons: Poor Texture, watery
Very tiny spears, thought they looked so good. But there is no way to prepare this and not have it be watery! I let it thaw at room temperature, chopped and then added to a frittata - and it was just awful. It was so watery, it destroyed the dish. Tried just warming thawed spears - and the texture was utter mush. I didn't overcook it - I barely warmed it. You can get good asparagus in the store year round, so don't bother getting this unless you're into mushy veggies.

Cream of the Crop!

Date:December 2, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Indulgent, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
I love these Asparagus Spears!
I would usually only buy fresh asparagus until I tried these. These take all of the fuss out of preparing my favorite vegetable. I love they way they are packaged with the tough part of the stalks already removed and each stalk neatly facing the same way. With fresh asparagus, I like to snap off the tough ends prior to steaming or grilling. Thank goodness this process has already been done for me with these Asparagus Spears.
Also, the fact they are frozen always me to always have them on hand. I also love the generous the amount of spears in each package. These are the cream of the crop of all the vegetable choices at Market Day. I always add these to my cart first, and I have never been disappointed.

No better than canned

Date:September 30, 2011
Cons: Poor Texture, Bland, Poor Flavor
In general I love the vegetables that you get from Market Day, but this asparagus is terrible. This is a case where fresh really is the only way to go.

Soggy

Date:May 27, 2011
Pros: Healthy
Cons: Poor Texture, soggy
I followed the instructions on the bag and the asparagus turned out super soggy. The texture was so horrible that my kids and husband wouldn't even touch it. I had to make cream of asparagus soup with the rest because of this. Very disappointing.

Ten Stars!!!!

Date:May 24, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Easy Prep, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture
This is the best asparagus you can buy hands down! They are thin, tender spears that are full of flavor. I have not been able to find asparagus of this high quality in the stores. My kids won't eat it, but that just leaves more for my husband and me.

Best asparagus! Second only to fresh!

Date:April 15, 2011
Pros: Flavorful, Indulgent, Easy Prep, Kid-Friendly, Healthy, High Quality, Good Texture, Versatile
These asparagus spears are the most wonderfully prepared frozen vegetable we use. They are thinner and delicate so they can be used with a lot of versatility. I roll them in crepes or turkey. I slice them for pasta dishes. And they are a healthy, quick side dish to make any meal more appealing - even with fish sticks! I've used them in brunch recipes and even serve them as a fancy side dish for holidays. My kids love these after tossing with butter and salt. I never thought I'd get them to eat asparagus, but thanks to Market Day's quality, I never have enough on hand for them! The best part is that they last so long in the freezer, especially if you double-wrap them upon receipt to protect from freezer burn.
Be sure not to overcook them. Because they are thin, they can get mushy too quickly. A quick steaming in the mw or on the stove is all they need and they taste richest when there is still a firmness to them. When possible I try to add them towards the end of cooking time to ensure a perfect texture.

too thin

Date:April 2, 2011
Cons: too narrow
Asparagus spears were too thin. My aparagus grows that thin when it has run out of energy at the end of the end of the season. Maybe they are not always that thin but when I ordered it the width was about the width of lingini or the lead of childs fat pencil.
